Reason #56
The Florida Marlins beat the Indians in the World Series in 1997. Ten years later, Jeff Conine, who played for the Marlins that year and the Cincinnati Reds now, says, "I remember it was cold here," according to today's Plain Dealer. You win the World Series but what you remember most is Cleveland's weather? That's how badly we need a dome or retractable roof.

Shelter - "a roof over your head" - is one of the basic human needs. Athletes and fans are human too, you know.

See Reason #26 - which stated that, "someday, MLB may decide to play the World Series at a neutral site - where there's warm, dry weather or a roof." And here's the latest: MLB has announced that Game 7 this year would be played on November 1, the first time a World Series game has been scheduled for November. Don't be surprised by an announcement in future years that the World Series will be moved to a neutral site.

Reason #53
Browns wide receiver Braylon Edwards has pledged $1 million in college scholarships for local high school students. Let's follow his example: If 150 to 200 of us would pledge $1 million each to add retractable roofs to our stadiums, we'd be set. Who wants to go first?

Have you seen the pictures and plans for the Dallas Cowboys new stadium? With a retractable roof and doors, the stadium will be ready for play in 2009 and could host the Super Bowl as early as 2011. Go to http://stadium.dallascowboys.com/ to see what we're missing.

Reason #50
Today is Mother's Day. My mom thinks a dome/retractable roof is a good idea and yours probably does too. Can't we do this for them after they've done so much for us? Happy Mother's Day, moms.
